ELECTRONIC ARTICLE SURVEILLANCE

Electronic Article Surveillance (EAS) is a technology used to identify articles while passing through protected area (entry/exit). This kind of identification is most commonly used to signalize the unauthorized removal of the article from stores, libraries, etc. EAS systems are used anywhere where potential robbery exists. By placing an EAS tag on the article the shoppers are allowed unintruded view of the product while there is no need for extra labour to monitor the store.

There are several kinds of EAS systems, but the main feature of all of them is the control tag or label that is being placed on the article. The control tag is deactivated when the article is purchased (or borrowed i.e. library). In case of unathorized removal of the article from the protected area, the tag activates the alarm.

EAS systems most commonly come in the form of the main unit with a transmitter, tags or labels and a deactivating unit. The main unit is placed at the entry/exit point of the retail location and the tags/labels are attached to the merchandise. Hard Tags are used for protecting soft goods such as clothes, fabrics, etc. while labels protect any kind of hard goods. At the point of sale, the third part of the system are the Universal Detacher or Universal Deactivator which are used for removing hard tags and labels.

The new trend is to build in the EAS code/tag on the article already in the factory (as a part of product tag) allowing for saving time and money in retail locations.

We can provide full "turnkey" EAS solutions by analizing, designing and implementing the full EAS system into your location according to your parameters.
